ABOUT

KYLE STANLEY

Since I was 12 years-old, baseball has been my #1 passion. Growing up, every Sunday consisted of breakfast, church, and then Cubs games on WGN. No one in my family was a baseball fan, but the days of Sammy Sosa hitting bombs onto Waveland Ave and Kerry Wood making MLB hitters look like little leaguers were too good not to fall in love with.

I turned my love for baseball into a career in 2007 when I joined the San Diego Padres Cox television team as an intern. in my 3 years there, I was like a kid in a candy shop. I met legendary players like Greg Maddux and Ricky Henderson, and baseball’s best managers like Lou Pinella and Bruce Bochy. I stood in the same dugout with my favorite players like Sammy Sosa and Kerry Wood. I had meals with the broadcasters that I looked up to like Matt Vasgersian, Len Kasper and Chip Caray.

I was completely spoiled from my time with the Padres. And guess how much money I made… $0. I did it all for free. For the love of the game. Unfortunately, after my time with the Padres, I had to look for a paying job. I could only be broke for so long!

So, in 2010, I became a sports anchor for a local TV news station in Colorado, and the fire and passion for the job vanished. Why? Because now I was being told what to do, how to do it, getting paid barely enough to survive, and I wasn’t even covering professional sports because I was in a small town.

I got out of that job pretty quickly, and have since gone on to create a very successful real estate business that gives me the freedom to live life on my terms. I share all of that because this is exactly why I started The Setup Man.

The most I’ve ever enjoyed baseball was when I was making $0 and in the presence of the some of the greatest names the game has seen. I want that passion to shine through to you in every interview I do. I want you to hear the stories that these players and coaches have never shared. I want you to feel like you are sitting right there with me as I ask the burning questions that you have always wanted reporters to ask.

Let’s dive into the lives of these stars and the moments that made them great.
Welcome to the Setup Man Podcast!
I hope you love it
